Development of urban areas for the Fringe universe. I began with a couple of sketch sheets derived from nouveau furniture and abandoned factories, but it felt a little stiff and uninspired. I then formed a library of organic shapes and silhouettes found in nature and biomimicry architecture. Now it's morphed into giant developments that mirror organic fungus crawling over high verticals - rust on steel, mushrooms on trees, umbrella jellies swirling around rocks. I wanted to create something that felt organic but at the same time sprawling; a life form that was unconfined and growing in and around masses of decaying debris, left behind. More detailed work to come.
